It aims to provide teachers, professors, management and other professionals involved in the teaching of the English language with some notes on the urgency of adopting in the pedagogical content the issues raised by the themes of race and gender, which for many years were absent from the discussion in the spaces _cc781905-5cde -3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_formative. Supported by current legislation (federal law no.11.645/08, National Curricular Parameters, BNCC and federal law no.14.164/21), the presentation will include an approach to some concepts such as race, racism, whiteness and gender, and how these themes will be present in the experience of teaching English, in addition to showing some pedagogical possibilities already experienced by teachers of English in their schools.

Carolina Azevedo is an English teacher at the municipal network of Rio de Janeiro and a Master's student in Education with an emphasis on Diversity and Ethnic-Racial Relations at the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ). She also participates in the Agbalá teaching collective and is a writer.
