How can CLIL help primary learners
think and learn in English?
.png)
This talk focuses on pedagogy involved in primary school bilingual and CLIL contexts. It focuses on ways that support learners to think and learn about subject topics. It also addresses cross-curricular learning and development of pluriliteracies.
Examples are taken from CLIL pages and videos for Super Minds Second Edition. These include ‘Big Questions’ for developing critical and creative thinking about subject concepts, support strategies to help learners understand and communicate their ideas, and how explicit language-learning can be embedded in the presentation of subject content.

Exploring language in three dimensions
When we delve into learning and teaching English, we notice that language is something complex. This, however, doesn’t mean that our relationship with language has to be complicated or difficult. Something that can help us as teachers deal with language in the classroom is look at it from different perspectives. This course aims at exploring how teachers can look at language from three different yet related perspectives.
-
Day 2: We’ll explore the concept of language for learning and how it can enable learners to practice and produce language in their interactions in the classroom.

Are you ready for an assessment reform?
This course is not about how to create tests or mark papers. Nor is it about the cornerstones of testing or standardized assessment.
It is for teachers and instructional leaders who want to change their classroom assessment practices, with a view to reaching every student and guaranteeing equity, without losing sight of the necessary rigor.

Day 2: Project-based and portfolio assessment

Tutor: Paulo Dantas
Digital Literacy: What, When, Why
Every Sunday, the New York Times print edition features more information than the average person would have access to during a lifetime before the printing press was invented. Now, our news feed is updated several times a second and we are constantly bombarded with information wherever we look. Even bus stops and elevators may feature screens broadcasting the latest breaking news. How can we help our students navigate this sea of information and make relevant and appropriate choices? How do we help our learners become more critical thinkers and assess the validity and accuracy of information in a world of post-truth?
-
On the second day, we'll understand the concept of post truth: how can we help our learners question information and (re)shape their own thinking.

Tutor: Marianna Rodrigues
1.O que é marketing, marketing digital e marketing de conteúdo;
2.Quero ser uma marca - Branding e branding primitivo;
3.Design não é só fazer arte - design thinking e jornada do cliente;

Beyond the Classroom:
New Pathways for the ELT Professional
Traditionally, EFL teachers have had educational opportunities at institutions like universities, regular schools, language centers and private classes. However, in today's technologically advanced environment, there are new and exciting avenues to pursue. In this presentation, I will talk about some of my experiences working in big companies that require the work of linguists as well as my career as a YouTube creator, online course designer and entrepreneur. These unconventional pathways are definitely not the only way an educator can succeed in their career nowadays, but they do represent an increasingly popular field of work.
