Join us for this special event in which our presenters will go into detail about the use of Authentic Materials in ESL classes!

How to make the most out of the videos, texts, and different media in a meaningful way? What kind of adjustments are necessary for one-to-one classes? Come find out this and much more on our very special Troika Day - April 11th, 2021.

The day will begin with Isabela Villas Boas discussing how genre awareness activities can help students develop their communicative competence. Cicinato Braga will cover ways in which we can adapt authentic materials to make them more meaningful to our students, as well as having stronger links to the course material. Our first guest speaker, Carmen Foltran, will follow with ways to personalize authentic materials and tasks in ways that extract the most out of them.

After our lunch break, Paulo Dantas will discuss how technology can help teachers fit authentic materials seamlessly into their classes. Akemi Iwasa is then going to explore the necessity of adjustments in materials in order to help students feel included and represented in these works. Our second guest speaker, Tamires Gama, will cover the impact that having authentic materials in a course can have in terms of student retention and interest. Gabriel Lemos will detail how teachers can use authentic materials to work with linguistic features in a real life context.
